On today's episode, I talk to musician and Professor of
Religious Studies Daniel Wyche. Daniel is a Chicago-based
guitarist, composer and improviser. Working with a wide range of
physical preparations, extended techniques, and pedal instruments,
his solo recorded work and live performances are characterized by
long-form structured improvisations. Both by himself and with a
number of collaborators (including former guest Patrick Shiroishi),
Daniel has released a number of albums, and his latest, Earthwork,
just came out towards the beginning of November. As an academic, he
specializes in a number of areas including the works of Michel
Foucault, and his first book On the Care of the Self and the
Care of the Other concerns Foucault's ethical ideas around
self-change.
