Beginnings

We all know the stories of how creative people get into the business of creating for a living, but how did they start using their imaginations in the first place? On the Beginnings podcast, writer and performer Andy Beckerman asks well-known and up-and-coming comedians, musicians, writers and artists about their earliest creative acts and about other formative childhood experiences.

100 episodes! It's been a blast, and while Mark and Andy accidentally turned into hyenas recently, they went out in style with a great live episode taped earlier in May at UCB East featuring Sam Seder of Majority Report; J.J. Sedelmaier, the co-creator of the SNL cartoons; Austin Brown of Parquet Courts; and musical guest Dan Friel. Hopefully, our fretful hosts will find a magical cure for their hyena-ism before episode 101!

Check out our new website for Beginnings, subscribe on iTunes and come see the next live episode on June 4th at 8pm at UCB East with Joe Randazzo (The Onion, Thing X), Larry Livermore (founder of Lookout! Records), Jamie Lee (Girl Code, Last Comic Standing), and musical guest Brother JT (Thrill Jockey, Drag City) and maybe more!
